Vanessa Raath, Global Talent Sourcing Trainer
Vanessa is a global Talent Sourcing Trainer who is passionate about empowering Recruiters & Sourcers to source the best talent more effectively & efficiently. She still actively works as a freelance Talent Sourcer and has clients based in the four corners of the globe. Vanessa knows that by staying active and operational in this space, she is better equipped to train others to source that hard-to-find talent. Vanessa is launching an online training academy in early 2023, so keep an eye out for this!
Brett Jones, Co-founder of OfferZen
Brett is a co-founder of OfferZen, a talent marketplace to find skilled, ready to interview developers across Europe and Africa.
Prior to OfferZen, Brett studied computer science thinking that one day he might be a software engineer, but instead, while living in London in 2006 he fell into tech recruiting. He spent the next 5 years specializing in recruiting software engineers. In 2010, he moved back to South Africa and founded a recruitment agency in Cape Town also focused on sourcing software engineers.
Brett is passionate about all things recruiting, talent acquisition, candidate experience, sales, and start-ups. In his spare time, you’ll find Brett out running on trails around Cape Town.
Robin Smets, CEO and Co-founder of Pantala
Robin is the Co-Founder of Pantala, a tech recruitment agency that connects South African software developers with fully remote international opportunities in Europe and the US.
Before his relocation to Cape Town, Robin lived and worked in Amsterdam. He started his career in various sales roles in different organizations before rolling into recruitment. In his last role, Robin was a Principal Recruiter with one of the fastest-growing tech recruitment agencies in the Netherlands.
When he is not working, and the wind blows, you can find Robin on a kiteboard at one of the Western Cape’s beautiful spots.
Maarten van der Kwaak, Co-founder of Matchr and Pantala, Investor
Maarten works with entrepreneurs and investors across industries on C-level executive searches and succession plans. Maarten works closely with especially Private Equity on their portfolio operations.
Maarten co-founded several successful recruitment businesses, including Matchr, Pantala, Apollo Executive, Legal Top Talent, The Legal Bench, and ConsultancyExit.
Maarten as a former skiing instructor is a skiing enthusiast and has been holding a season ticket at Ajax with his father for years now.
